Receptive Language Skills

Foundational Skills For Language

Receptive language skills refer to a child’s ability to process and understand language. These skills are crucial for following directions and understanding what you read. Without good receptive language skills children are at risk for attention and listening difficulties. Some of the foundation skills for developing receptive language include paying attention, concentration, following gestures, eye contact and social skills.
