Developing Strength Of The Oral Structures
Oral motor development is the coordination of the lips, tongue, jaw, hard and soft palates. These structures work together to help the child produce language, manage various textures of solid foods and swallow safely.Children with oral motor weakness will often have trouble with speech production and feeding. Speech therapists help to develop strength, coordination and endurance of the oral structures which in turn promotes better social skills, safe eating and overall confidence.
